Let's Get Acquainted Linky- Noun Game

I'm linking up with Flying Into First Grade for her Let's Get Acquainted Linky - Noun Game.  I've been reading so many posts by other bloggers and this is just too much fun to miss,

My Favorite Person:  Just can't name one person here.  I have a WONDERFUL family - a fun-loving  husband, 4 great children, 3 terrific grandchildren, an amazing son-in-law and my son's adorable steady girlfriend.   These are my favorite people!

My Favorite Place:  Hands down my favorite place is Barcelona, Spain.  I spent a week there last summer and I fell in love, love, love with the city of mosaic, art, music, and dance.  Can't wait to go back!

My Favorite Thing: My favorite thing is my swimming pool!  If you live in Arizona, you try to live in a swimming pool as much as possible.  There is nothing like jumping into cool water on a 115 degree day!

My Favorite Animal: Baby quail. They are the cutest dang things!  We have them all over Tucson and this is the time of the year they'll begin to hatch.  I have a momma quail that uses my front flower bed as a nest every year.  Pretty soon, I open the front door and see these little critters scampering around our front porch.  Just too cute.

Now before you go, I MUST tell you about Kimberly Ann's 300 Followers Give Away.  Live, Laugh, I Love Kindergarten is having a HUGE celebration.  There are so many opportunities to win so many great items.  (Thanks Kimberly Ann for including me in your party!).  Please head right over for your chance to win many great classroom packets.

Have a great rest of the week!

Spring Chick Freebie

Here's a cute little "Spring chick" craft.  It's so easy and best of all it's a great way to review basic shapes.  This chick is made out of circles, half circles, triangles, and rectangles.

Step 1:  Copy the pattern sheet onto white card stock.  Note: Card stock really does work best for this project.
Click on the image to download the pattern page.

Step 2:  Cut out the pieces.

Step 3:  Glue the head to the body.

Step 4:  Glue on the wings (one on top of the body, one underneath).

Step 5:  Glue the legs on under the body.  Glue the two triangle beaks on the head (not pictured).

Step 6:  Mix equal parts white glue and water.  Have your students "paint" squares of yellow and orange tissue paper on the chick.  Note: I have the chick on resting on wax paper.  It helps protect the table.

Finally:  Have your students use a hole punch and black construction paper to make an eye.  Just lay it on the head.  The wet glue water will help it adhere.

The wings and feet curl slightly as they dry.  This makes each chick look like she is flapping her wings and running around.  Each chick looks different and adorable.

Enjoy

Let's Get Acquainted Linky Party

I'm joining up with Mrs. Reed at Flying into First Grade for her first ever linky party.

Here are the rules: Share 3 things about yourself that you like or like to do using your initials.

My initials are CYC.

C is for "crafty".  I love doing artsy things.  As a matter of fact I do a TON of mosaics.  I make my own tiles (I have a kiln) and create all sorts of benches, garden plaques, trivets, tables, etc.  I even laid mosaic on my back patio (500 square feet) during the month of July in Arizona.  My family is afraid to stand still for fear that I'll mosaic them! Here is a link to my mosaics website.

Y is for "yen".  I have a real yen for travel.  Last summer my husband and I spent three weeks in London and Spain.  This summer we'll be going to Germany, Austria, and Croatia.  I am really looking forward to this" road trip"  in Europe.

Croatia
C is for "cooking".   I love to cook and especially love to bake.  I went to the Pillsbury Bake-Off about 18 years ago.  I also won a three week trip to Europe (about 25 years ago) as the grand prize winner of a baking contest.  Haven't won anything since then but I can always look back and remember :)   My greatest fans are my grandchildren.

On a side note,  the winner of the $65.00 in educational games from Blue Orange Games is:

Congrats Rachael!

Have a great week-

Currently - March

Here's my first "Currently" link up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

Listening: My cat thinks computer time is her time.  She insists on resting just over the keyboard and swipes at my hand as I work - this makes it quite difficult to type, but I do get a serenade of purrs!

Loving: We have had a week of FANTASTIC weather.  Temps have been in the mid 70's.  I just want to be outside every minute.  Spent yesterday afternoon with my hubby and sons at a beer festival.  Great fun even though I was the D.D!

Thinking: I am spending quite a bit of time thinking about what I want to do during my spring break next week.  So much to do... so little time :)

Wanting: I've never been to a St. Patty's Day party... I would really like to go to one.

Needing: I'm needing a massage. (O.K. I may be confusing wanting with needing.)

L. L. H.:  I must admit I have a sweet tooth.  I like candy - almost any type.  I LOVE chocolate.  I hate catty remarks... what happened to the old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

Have a great week and don't forget to enter my Games Give Away worth $65.00.
