Mother's Day Craft-Card and Activities

I love working with the little ones on their Mother's Day cards and gifts. I tend to go for "craft-cards" and then add little token gifts (that they also make). I like the craft-card to be an easy assembly that looks good no matter how it is put together. Hence this year's Mother's Day packet:

I like the children to think about how special the person is that cares for them. I am currently working with a group of kiddos - many who are being raised by their grandmothers, aunts, and a few by foster mothers.

I created prompts that allow for different titles and names to be written in the initial writing prompt- "My Mother is the Best Because..."  "My Grandmother is the Best Because..."and "My _________ is the Best Because...".   I hope this helps all the children in the class to feel comfortable with the activity. I used a similar strategy with the drawing prompt.

The packet contains some really fun activities.  I especially enjoy the "All About My Mother" activity and acrostic poem activity.  What each child writes is such a hoot!  I still have many of the Mother's Day cards and activities my kids made when they were in grade school.  They are treasures well  worth keeping!

I will be giving away two packets in a random drawing on Sunday evening.  Just leave a comment and your email address.  I will be drawing names from the comments made this weekend.

Have a great weekend
Granny (Cindy)

P.S.  I'll post a Mother's Day craft very soon!

  1. I just love your creations! This looks awesome and I love all of the options, as plenty of my kids to not live with "Mom." :(

  2. Thanks for the chance to win...last year we wrote acrostic poems on half the paper and on the other side I put silhouettes I had cut of each child. Took quite a while, but that class was great at working independently, so I cut while they were on task!

    1. Thanks so much... I love creating Mother's Day and Father's Day projects and cards. It's so nice to have our little ones thinking about all their parents do for them.

  5. It is always fun to create something special for Mother's Day. Each year we have a Mother's Day Tea and invite our mom's in for Tea and cookies. We perform songs and sometimes do a dance too. We always make a card of some sort so I am always looking for new ideas. Thanks for creating something that supports various caregivers who fulfill the role of Mom. I have some students who are with their grandparents and others who are just with Dad.

  8. Bet the rose recipients just loved the Mom's Day bouquets. Sorry you seem to be hit with spam comments. :-(
