Eight "Read the Room" Math Games and a Big Raffle!

Don't you just love all the cute turkey craftivities, activities, lessons, math and reading stations, etc.? Everyone's blogs are looking so November-ish.

Well, I love "read the room" activities. I think the kids need that kind of movement and the activity seems to really add spark to math and reading center time.

I have created a 65 page packet with 8 "Read the Room" math games. Enough to keep your kiddos busy for the next month- easily!

The packet covers the following Common Core Standards: K.MD.3; K.OA.3; K.OA.4; K.OA.5; K.CC.5 1.NBT.1; 1.NBT.2; 1.NBT.5; 1.MD.4; 1.OA.2; 1OA.6

This fun math packet is designed for busy K-1s'. The packet contains 8 games that address 10 Common Core Standards:  Tally-A; Tally-B; Addition-A; Addition-B; Ten Squares; Count to 120;
Mental Math; and How Many?
Available at my TpT store.  Click on the image.
I'm just itching to give a few away. Leave a comment and I'll select 2 people (random drawing) on Friday and send the winners the packet.  Please remember to leave your email address.
And the winners are Kate and Christine:

Also- you all JUST HAVE TO COME BACK ON Saturday.  Why, you are asking... 4 of my blogger friends and I are having a Thanksgiving Thank You Raffle for our followers.  The five of us are each giving away a fun $20.00 gift certificate.  That's $100.00 in gift certificates, just in time for the holidays.

So leave a comment for the Turkey Tally Packet and come back on Saturday and enter to win $100.00 in gift certificates.

Have a great rest of the week.

Pumpkin Art and a Math Freebie

Just had to share this great little project that my daughter and grand kids worked on last week.  The idea came from That Artist Woman.

The best part of this project is that it's so versatile.  All three of my grand kids made one (ages 9, 7, and 3) and all three turned out darling.  Age doesn't seem to matter with this project.
Step 1: They used white card stock and masking tape to fill the entire
paper.  Strips could be any length.  They tried to tear the tape jagged to
add more dimension.

Step 2: Each child painted the entire paper orange and let it dry.
They used acrylic paint (didn't know how washable tempera paint
would work on the tape).
Step 3: Each child had a small separate piece of paper with a small dot
of green acrylic paint.  They used the "fork" technique to create fun
funky lines in the stem.

Step 4: The kids drew their own pumpkins on the BACKSIDE of the paper
and cut them out.  They did the same thing with the stem and glued it to
the pumpkin.

Step 5: They used a circle paper punch for the whites of the eyes, black
buttons as well as cut out a mouth and teeth to embellish the pumpkin.

Love how they all turned out quite unique. (Original source is That Artist Woman)

Since we're doing pumpkins this week I created these fun "Pumpkin Line Up" math sheets.  The file contains pumpkin line up (and witch line up)  for counting by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's and 100's.  Great for differentiated learning opportunities in the classroom. Click here to down load the entire file (10 pages).

WHOOOO Loves Graphs?

I just couldn't help myself from getting into the fall spirit - even though it's still REALLY hot here in Arizona!

I created a Fall Graphs mini-packet.  It contains 5 graph activities that cover tally, bar, and pie graphs.  There are also multiple opportunities for students to practice interpreting data.

Did I mention- the packet covers the following Common Core Standards:
K.MD.3
1.MD.4
2.MD.10

Of course, the packet has a craftivity also- and you know me- I love craftivities as much as I love games. (Can you see the pattern here- I like to have fun!).

The craftivity is designed to be placed on the cover of  "Whooo Loves Graphs?" individual booklets.

The booklets will look darling on a bulletin board and can then go home so parents can see the level of graphing that you're working on in the classroom.

You can purchase the "WHOOO Loves Graphs?"  packet  at my TpT store for only a $1.00.

Click here to purchase and to see more detailed pictures of the actual graphs.

I would also like to give away 3 Fall Graphs mini-packets. If you would like one, please comment and leave your email address (so I know where to send the file).  I will randomly generate three winners, from those of you that comment, by Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m.

Have a great weekend-
Granny

Yikes! Game- Freebie

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a really fun Friday Freebie to give to all my followers this week.

It's my "Yikes!" game and it's all about counting money and taking chances.  I'll be giving this away as a freebie from 9/13 - 9/25.

We've played this game with children from 2nd to 4th grade and they really enjoy it.  There are two levels of play, so that you can differentiate learning to meet the needs of all the students in your class.

If you are already a follower, just post a comment and leave your email address so I know where to send the game.

If you are a follower, and are not on the google friend connect list, I'd love it if you would also register there.  I'm just waiting to hit the 100 followers mark on "google friends connect" so I can sponsor a give-away.

If you are not a follower, please start following.

Oh, and don't forget, I'm having a flash sale this weekend on my fall craftivities.  They'll be on sale for only $1.00 in my TpT store!  It's time to stock up.

Thanks!

Granny

P.S.  I'll be away from a computer from Friday morning until Sunday evening.  Please keep posting and know I'll get everyone their games by Monday morning.

Free Place Value Scoot Game

Well- it's almost the end of the first week of classes for me! This semester I get to teach an art and music methods class... it's just too much fun! We played the "A, B, C's About Me" game and we got to know a lot about each other. Although it was adults (college students,) the game can easily be adapted for 3rd grade - high school students. It's a really fun "community building" activity. If you're interested in the prompt sheet, feel free to email me and I'll send you a copy.
I am also offering a free copy of any one of my math place value scoot games to everyone that signs up to follow my blog by Wednesday evening (8/29/2012) at 10:00 pm. You'll need to comment on my blog, identify the Scoot game you want, and don't forget to include the email address where you'd like the game sent. You'll find all my Scoot games at my TpT Store- just click the link on the side of this page.
Have a great (well deserved) weekend.
