Johnny Appleseed Craftivity and Writing Prompts

We are still NOT enjoying any fall weather here in Tucson!  It hit 100 degrees today - yuck!   

I have been enjoying seeing everyone's fall apple units and Johnny Appleseed activities.  All your fun apple activities prodded me into the fall spirit and I couldn't resist my urge to create a new craftivity.

Here's a close up of the "quick and easy" craft.  

This easy to assemble Johnny Appleseed craft is a breeze to to cut and put together.  The craftivity makes a perfect showcase for student writing prompts that include:

* Describe page
* Write About the Johnny Appleseed Story (primary and secondary lines)
* Read, Trace It, Draw It page
* Facts I Know About Johnny Appleseed writing prompt (primary and secondary lines)
* A B C Order page
* "If I Were Johnny Appleseed I Would..." writing prompt (primary and secondary lines)

The packet also comes with full patterns and illustrated (pictured) directions.  This packet is a great addition to any teacher's apple unit.

Apple Word Play and a Freebie

Look at what's available at the Dollar Tree... sight word dice! 

High frequency word dice

There are 2 word sets available.  Each set of three dice has 18 high frequency words.   I snatched them right up and created these fun little roll and color sheets.

The little "firsties" that I tutor LOVED playing this game today.  It was a great way to help reinforce those high frequency words.   When we play again, I'll use bingo markers for the kids to "color in" their apples.

Free Black and White Clip Art Frames and Halloween Fun!

As I promised last week, I am offering my followers 10 black and white clip art frames. They are all 300 dpi and transparent. This makes them a breeze to use on all your projects. They are for sale at my TpT store, but free here for my friends and followers.

Five for Friday

Wow have I had a busy week!

1)  My week began with a 22 hour car ride from Phoenix, Arizona to Olympia, Washington.  We did it in 2 days... YIKES!  I was helping my son move to Olympia for a new job.  The car ride was L-O-N-G but beautiful.  I stayed a few days to help him unpack (he needed to head to work the day after we arrived).  Olympia is a beautiful city, I think he'll love it.  We sure are going to miss him here in Arizona (sniff, sniff).

2)  Flew straight from Olympia to Carlsbad (California) for the holiday weekend.  Enjoyed the sun, the sea, and this funky little beach town.   I highly recommend it.

3)  Got very busy with the start of classes this week.  This semester I'm teaching solely online.... hence I am LIVING at the computer! 

4)  Got some cute clip art frames made in Photoshop and put them up for grabs (for free) on my Thursday blog post.  Click on the picture below to get to the post where you can "snag" them if you haven't already done so.

5)  Made the BEST Fresh Pear Bread!  Got the recipe from Taste of Home and it is super delicious.    It's a quick and easy assembly, bake, and enjoy kind of recipe.

Free Squiggly Frames

O.K., I admit it,  I'm still playing with Photoshop and loving every minute.

I put together a cute little set of "squiggly" frames and thought I'd offer them to any of my followers who might be able to use them.

The file contains frames in the following colors: black, blue, red, yellow, brown, green, lime, orange, purple, and pink.  All frames are transparent png. files for easy use with any of your projects.

I have also put together a set of 10 black and white frames (different styles).  I never seem to have enough black and whites!  If anyone else needs more black and white frames, just let me know and I'll offer them next week for free to my followers.

Fall Ten Frames, a Birthday Celebration Winner, and Grandparents Day Craft and Writing Packet Sale

Fall is in the air... at least somewhere!

In anticipation of our impending fall weather (that means temperatures under 100 degrees), I put together 18 sets of Fall Ten Frames. They are ready to print, laminate and put in your math centers.

This packet is designed for use in either your Fall Unit, Apple Unit, or Farm Unit.

• Individual cards (2 per page) are designed to be cut out and laminated.  
• Each set of 10 frame cards can be used in your math center. Children count and record on their individual answer sheets. 
• Alternately, a set of ten cards can be placed around the room for a fun “read the room” activity. 
• Children can also be given an entire set of cards and the corresponding answer sheet. This is a great individual “quiet work” activity. 

I have also put my Grandparents Day Card and Literacy Activities Packet on sale until September 8th (Grandparents Day).
